TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Ferrinov®-501 is a dark brown ferrite pigment with exceptional anticorrosion properties. This pigment is coated to yield better resistance to corrosion. It is an active pigment that releases metal ions when subjected to a corrosive environment. These ions form stable hydroxides to cover the metal in a continuous process. The passive layer then formed consists mainly of zinc hydroxide and, to a lesser degree, of calcium and zinc hydroxide and calcium hydroxide.

The significant presence of calcium and zinc gives the pigment high responsiveness and alkalinity. Calcium and zinc makes the pigment resistant to acid and contributes to its stability in alkaline conditions.

Ferrinov®-501 is characterized by a very narrow grain size distribution. The median particle size is less than 0.30 µm. These particles are clusters of active nanoparticles coated with hydroxides. They have a very long term passivation activitiy.

Ferrinov®-501 is easily dispersed and is compatible with the most commonly used high-performance anticorrosive paint systems. Its high alkalinity may require slight changes for water based paint systems.

The key parameters of the hydrometallurgical process are systematically checked at all the manufacturing stages. The resulting pigment is then controlled in terms of pH levels, conductivity, specific weight, moisture, oil absorption, dispersion, incorporation speed and colour. This continuous quality control process ensures the consistency and quality of each production lot.
